7m Arivu
Watched this Tamil movie called 7m Arivu that brings the meaning '7th sense' in English. Interesting right? While majority of the human being still trying to control their mind and fully make use of the 6th sense, now what is this 7th sense!?!? Further a Tamil movie from India?
It cant be right! Tamil movies and Indian big screen movies in general have been stereo typed with good muzic, songs(using play back singers) and dancing around trees, caste and sec fights, a village hero single handedly fight off up to 100 thugs without 'superhero costumes', crying, crying, and more crying, mother and family sentiments, love story between family of different status, twins born and separated when they are infant and when they meet up one will be evil and the other will be an angel etc etc etc.
Just recently the trend has changed especially from the Southern Indian movie industry. But still the muzic and songs are compulsory for all the movies.
This is quiet surprising to watch this movie though. Equally surprising that the mighty China actually learned a lot of things from a Tamilan called Bodhi Dharman. The prince was ordered by 'Madha' (mother) often a spiritual leader in a goevernment in those days to go North to China for a reason not known to him at that time. She never tells and he never asks. They are very holy type and its not usual to ask any questions when ordered to do anything. So he left leaving behind two young children and his wife.
Only later in the movie it was revealed that the prince was sent to China actually to stop a plague that will happen in a near future from reaching India! What happened after that was history of 1600yrs ago. He was an expert and medicine and martial arts. The early form of martial art is called Kalari and its started from South India. 1st he cure the Nanyang villagers from the plague and later saved them from local savages. He cont'u to stay there and taught them medicine and martial arts that later will become modern day Kung Fu!But after so many years in the village when he wanted to come back to India it was decided by the villagers that if 'Damo' as they like to call him now is to leave Nanyang then their good fortune will go with him. Thus decided to poison his food and bury his body in that village. Bodhi Dharman who is known as 2nd Buddha by now realised this and willingly eat the food and died.
Im not writing in favour of this movie or citizicing it since every Tamilians should watch this movie in a teater at least once to appreciate it. Just that its amazing to know the facts that we the Tamilians have given the world a lot of things. Unbelievebale even to know that Kung Fu is given to the world by a Tamilan! In every Shao Lin temple in China there is this statue of Bhodhi Dharman where they worship him like a God.
The traditional medicine that the Chinese are so good at actually went to them from Tamil Naadu!
So what happened to all the past glory of Indians and especially the Tamilans? We know the South Indian kings have ruled Malaya in those days. We also know along the way due to repeated war a lot of their traces destroyed intentionally and or unintentionally and its still happening now. Look like the Chinese did more or less the same things, hiding 'Damo' traces and claiming him for themself. And inability or incompetence of successive Indian governments in recognizing her own achivers made it easy for other countrys to appreciate them more. Like just now most of her software engineers are working in USA. Like a lot of Malaysian professionals are appreciated in foreign countrys then in Malaysia due to goverment policies.
Every single thing that practiced by our ancestors have their own meanings. Whatever they did, they did for a reason. A good example of our ancestors findings that is good for woman to look young and good for many other reasons is 'manjakani'. Its a Tamilan's discovery. But who actually use this a lot in Malaysia and Indonesia? Try ask the Indian ladies and try ask the same to a Malay lady in our country and we shall know the answer! Just like this, a lot of other 'natural and traditional medication' just disappeared due to lot of reasons. But mostly due to the future generation dont appreciate them at all.
Back to the 7m Arivu we shall watch it again and again to appreciate whats our ancestors have achieved for us and to realize what we the Tamilans are actually capable of doing. Tamil civilzation is one of the oldest in the world and if i am allowed to say it, IT IS THE OLDEST civilization, language and culture. Now i dont have time or documented evidence to support my claim here but the truth cannot be denied and hid forever.
"They hit us in Malaysia, they hit us in Sri Lanka and now they want to hit us in our country" This is one of the dialogues by the hero Surya and I love the way it was inserted in the movie. At last a Tamil movie that i can be proud of as A Tamilian and also one movie that make us realized who we really are. Coming fom a Tamil family and school background I dont need this movie to make me realized our capability but this has actually brought out the best among the Tamilians.
Enjoy it and lets move on to be THE BEST.
